H.O.P.E. for K-8 Education is a Schoolcraft College program  and was created by Dr. Michelle Cline in order to provide teachers with time to think and plan for their classroom without losing instructional time with their students.  Teachers do not like to miss school because the substitute rarely follows the plans left behind and at times it can take twice as long to undo what has been done in the teacher's absence.

H.O.P.E. is unique in that it provides student field trips that are aligned with common core math and ELA and state science standards in the form of Mystery Festivals - CSI-like investigations.  While the students are engaged in the activity, the teachers use the time to plan and/or receive professional development.  No need for substitutes or creating plans.  Teachers will receive a document with the standards being addressed with the students.  All the teachers need to do is plan how to effectively use their time.
